"They had me back on my feet after a fall"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I have Inclusion Body Myositis, a muscle wasting disease, and yesterday Friday March, I fell in my home in Fife, hurting the back of my head. As my wife was unable to get me up from the floor, she dialled 999 and asked for help.

An ambulance arrived VERY quickly, crewed by two young ladies. They set about their work quietly and efficiently and very soon had me on my feet. They were concerned about my blood pressure and remained with me until I was back to something nearer normal.

I would like to tell the young ladies just how much their help and concern was appreciated by my wife and I. They are a credit to their profession!

Dear Tomtit,

Many thanks for your message, I'm really glad to hear that our crew were able to arrive so quickly and treated you with such excellent care.

I hope that you're feeling much better - if that's the case I'd like to get some more information from you so I can let the crew involved hear about your feedback. I know first hand that our staff very much appreciate it when patients get in touch to say a simple 'thank you' - it goes a long way.

Please can you email me at danielquee@nhs.net with some more details, like the date, time and your address.

Once again, thanks for your time.

Dear Tomtit,

I hope you and your wife are recovering well after your fall- it was of great help to get your email with the details about your accident. Working with staff at our Ambulance Control Centre, I was able to work out who the two crew members that came to you were, Mandy and Kathryn. I have just called to pass on your thanks - both are on a night shift this evening but I did manage however to speak to Steven who is a Paramedic Team Leader. Steven said that he will pass on your comments to them both this evening and wanted me to let you know how much he and his team appreciate it when patients get in touch to provide any feedback. He said it was always good to hear about a patient's experience and now his team can be assured that they're getting things right.

Again, thanks very much for your time and if there's anything else I can help with please do let me know.

Take care,

Daniel Quee
