"Spinal injections - March"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Instructed to arrive at Ward 3 @7.30am were I stayed until 1.00pm with exception of 2 short intervals (5mins each) for administration procedures. Transferred to patient lounge were I waited until 2.30pm. The actual procedure took 20 minutes and the theatre staff were superb. Taken back to patient lounge to be told that the Discharge ward were to busy to come for me, so waited another 45 minutes before the nurse in the patient lounge asked a colleague if they would take me to the ward. Finally was discharged at 4pm so was in the hospital for 8.5 hours for a 20 minute procedure. To make matters more frustrating I was not informed of any unforseen delays so did not even get a cup of tea offered or given the opportunity to buy one, for fear of losing my place in the obvious queue. This is my second experience of this hospital and my previous one was the same a visit to A&E which resulted in my being admitted after a wait of 9 hours. The staff are very good but are seriously let down by very poor organisation and administration procedures. I hope if I need further treatment it could be done at Chorley were I was originally scheduled to go but was switched to Royal Preston at last minute.
