"'Parking Eye' at Wansbeck hospital: terrible..."

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I regularly visit Wansbeck hospital, as both my parents have cancer and are receiving treatment. I have registered my vehicle details at reception on the oncology day unit. Which I renew on a regular basis, so that it doesn't expire. However, over the last six months I have received several parking charge notices for £70.00. I have just received another fine today, despite being registered. I have contacted the oncology receptionist in the past and she has been very nice in sorting it out for me. I feel I have enough to deal with regarding hospital visits, without the extra worry of receiving fines. As I am sure, the oncology staff have enough work to do, without the extra burden of having to sort out a parking company's inadequacies. I haven't telephone the oncology ward, as this current fine is only relating to one day last week and I visited the hospital again on the Thursday, so there may be yet another fine on its way! The staff on both the oncology day unit and clinic do a wonderful job. It's just a terrible shame that the hospital have employed such an unprofessional parking company .

Dear Sir/Madam I am so sorry that you have had this experience of the parking system at Wansbeck Hospital. I can understand how frustrating this must be for you at a time when both your parents are attending the hospital for care. I would really like to help you with this and would be really grateful if you could email me at annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk I hope we can get matters resolved for you very quickly. It might help to know that the Trust has listened to, and is concerned by, the many issues raised by patients and families, since the Parking Eye system was installed. As a result, we are entering into urgent discussions with Parking Eye Ltd to find a way of addressing these concerns and preventing any recurrence of the issues which have been reported to us. Thank you for your kind comments about the care that the oncology team have provided for your parents. I will ensure they are passed on. Best Wishes Annie
