"Wonderful service"

I went to A&E at Pinderfields mid February at around mid-day. I only waited a short while before being seen by a nurse. After getting details from me of what the problem was I only had few minutes to wait before being seen by a doctor. They immediately put a canula in in preparation of being admitted and having an operation. I was taken up to gate 32 where the staff were kind, caring and attentive. I was sent for various tests then seen by a doctor. They decided later in the evening that I could go home and arranged for me to see the consultant two days later. Whilst in the ultrasound unit I met an extremely nice nurse. I had had my ultrasound and was having to wait for a ported to take me back to the ward. It was after 5.00pm and she should have finished at 5 as all other staff had gone. She stayed with me until the porter came to collect me. This was going the extra mile, above and beyond what we have come to expect of late in this country. The consultant when I saw her on the 26 February promised she would put me on her urgent list and that my operation would be within four to six weeks. I can happily say my operation is tomorrow on gate 28 well within the time line given. All in all my experience at Pinderfields has been superb and is an indication of what the old NHS used to be like when nursing was a caring profession and not just a 'job'. Well done to all the staff at Pinderfields, especially my consultant and the Plastic Surgery unit. Thank you to all.
