"Poor doctor care"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

My daughter collapsed at work and was sent to A and E by amubulance with abdominal pain. After sitting in a chair for an hour she was seen by a junior doctor who's first words were there was not anybody senior on the department to see her. He then proceeded to examine her abdomen, he did not do a internal examination, but then decided she could possibly have an ovarian cyst. He then proceeded to tell her that she should go home make an appointment at her GP's for them to arrange a urgent scan... I find this appaulling as my daughter was in great pain and the investigations he did were minimal to say the least. I feel that he should have investigated her more or even admitted her for more investigations as she was left no further forward with no answer to what had caused the pain or the collapse.

We are sorry you feel let down by your daughter's care. From what you’re telling us this does not sound acceptable and we would very much appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and speak to your daughter to explain what happened. Please ask her to get in touch with our patient experience team so we can make arrangements to discuss things with her. She can do this by calling 01642 624719. If there is no answer, please ask your daughter to leave a message and someone will phone her back as soon as they can. Alternatively she could send an email to patientexperience@nth.nhs.uk. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
