I wasn't the patient on this occasion , my mother was taken to A&E in an ambulance, the crew were fantastic and very understanding. My mother had an initial assessment when I wasn't present so I can't comment on what happened, we were reunited shortly afterwards and we sat without any communication for at least an hour and a half. When we were seen it was by an extremely unpleasant nurse practitioner who acted like she was doing us a favour, she had no compassion and barely acknowledged my husband and myself. I understand A&E departments can be extremely busy and accept fully that a long wait is fairly standard, I do think communication is key and just a quick word was all that was needed, as for the nurse her attitude was unacceptable. I had reason to visit the same department myself in August and everybody was helpful and very caring, an altogether nicer experience.
