"Disappointing"

About: Fulwood Hall Hospital

Sadly, the consultant I saw had missed all the bedside manner modules throughout all the years of medical training that I assume and hope he has had. 'Sorry, I can't help you, book an appointment at reception for a few months time, on your way out' is not a response I'd expect from anyone that works with human beings with feelings and that are in dibilatating amounts of pain. Especially someone that we as patients have to put immediate trust in- to have him not even offer any sort of advice or anything along the lines of reassurance and to belittle months of pain and months of my being housebound. Ridiculous. I thought these people were meant to at least make you feel better even if they claim not to be able to operate, not to offer any sort of a solution. My 'choose and book' was based on the earliest appointment available, not the venue, i.e.it being a private hospital and all. My experience is making me think that the fact that I am an NHS patient had a bearing on his behaviour and attitude, or maybe new was having a bad day. Just like me, only I've had 89 bad days so far, and now it doesn't feel like that number will stop increasing in the near future.

I am really sorry that your experience of Fulwood Hall Hospital did not meet our usual high standards. I would be grateful if you could contact me so we can address your concerns personally. Ann Cooke, Matron - Fulwood Hall Hospital
