"childrens wards, fantastic"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

After a visit to the doctors with my 2yr old son, i was advised to take him to nearest childrens ward, living in skegness, this would have been the pilgrim at boston, they were full so we couldnt go there! Our doctor rang lincoln who immediately said to get him there as quickly as we could. we arrived at lincoln and went to the safari ward. They were brilliant! the nurse saw us to a bed, took my sons obs and very shortly the lovely doctor was with us.After examination, she wasnt 100% sure so she asked for the registra to come see him, we did have a little wait for him as he was dealing with a child in A &E. we kept informed at all times. When he came, he was also brilliant both with us and my son. without hesitation he reccommended that my son had a chest x-ray and blood test. This was because they thought he had a chest infection but also wanted to find out why he was having extemely high temps for such long periods of time. We did have to stay over night and i must say that the nurse who looked after us through the night again was fantastic. We got discharged late the next day, this was because the docs wanted to see how well my boy would take the oral antibiotics prescribed as they were very unpleasant. Overall, im pleased that pilgrim were full as i think my son had fantastic care and i wolud happily drive that bit further to ensure good quality care for him.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience within paediatrics at Lincoln County Hospital. We have an ethos of trying to provide the best patient experience possible on the children’s wards at Lincoln and Boston and we work closely as a team across the county (I cover both hospitals as Matron). I am sorry to hear that you had to drive further because Boston were experiencing a high level of activity meaning we were closed to admissions, but I am delighted that your experience was so positive once you got to Lincoln. Feedback whether positive or negative is valuable to us as it helps us continually improve.

I hope your son is now feeling much better after their unfortunate admission to hospital.
