"Appalling apart from amazing ambulance staff!"

About: Tameside General Hospital

Would like to thank the thief that that stole the £30 from my handbag that was left by my fiancé incase I woke up during the night as he wasn't allowed to stay with me past midnight and I was unaware I had been admitted to hospital, thank you again to staff who were too busy laughing and joking around a computer to update him on how I was and another thank you for discharging me with no real explanation of what was wrong with me or discharge note just passed on to a friend and said I could go home. Luckily I went to my GP in Salford who gave me some medication and I'm now on the mend. I would rather take my chances and get better at home than endure another minute in that shambles of a hospital. You want to learn from Salford Royal who never fail on patient and family care in my experiences.

I am sorry to read about your recent experience at Tameside.

I am concerned you say money was stolen from your handbag and that you felt the staff were inattentive and did not provide you with advice when you were discharged.

We are working hard to improve our communication with patients and people who visit our hospital and we take theft on our hospital grounds seriously.

If you would like me to investigate the concerns you have raised please do not hesitate to contact me.

‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing
