About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I recently had to take a family member to the a&e department on the advice of NHS direct. Whilst the waiting area was all refurbished the other areas were appalling. Lights hanging off walls, used tissues on floor; used, by previous occupants, examination equipment on chair; holes in walls covered with tape. Attitude of staff very dismissive. The patient I brought in told one staff member that they had a blood disorder and the staff member backed away as though they had the plague and they were never seen again. After approx 6-7 hours we were told that some things just happen and told to go home. Very unsatisfactory experience, didn't feel safe, reassured or treated with dignity.
