"One of the worst experiences I have had."

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

I was admitted to this hospital with suspected appendicitis. I spent a week being referred back and forth between surgery departments, I had an operation - and then they decided to do a CT scan which would have given the same information. There was little to no communication between the doctors and the nurses, the nurses did not know what was wrong with me until I explained. I was treated very offhandedly by most of the doctors, only two of whom took time to answer my questions. The nurses were brusque and asking for help was treated with disdain. There were a very few nurses who actually treated me kindly, one had time to help me shower after my surgery, two were prepared to help me go to the toilet. I was several times offered food and drink when I was nil by mouth. Debris from breakfast was often still there the next day. I could go on, but In the end, I am no better than when I was admitted. I'm still waiting for a referral to a proper hospital.
