"My brother in law was admitted ..."

About: East Surrey Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My brother in law was admitted on 7th October 2008, from Gatwick Airport having sufferred a massive heart attack. My sister said that the staf on admittance at A&E were wonderful. He was in intensive care for one week, until sadly he passed away. In all that time all the staff were wonderful, the doctors and nurses were honest and upfront about the treatment he was receiving and how his chances were.

The area was extremely clean. My sister consented to her hsubands organs being donated. The transplant team were very sympathetic to our plight and kept us informed every step of the way.

In todays climate when hospital trusts are being lamblasted for poor staffing and dirty wards, East Surrey should be extremely proud of the standards of their clinical staff as well as the cleaning staff who keep this hospital clean.

Firstly and on behalf of the Trust, I would like to offer my sincere condolences on the very sad passing of your brother-in-law. Our thoughts are with you all at this most difficult time.

I do apologise for the delay in responding to your comment; unfortunately, we have had some problems accessing the site ourselves recently.

Thank you so much for taking the time to express your very kind comments, particularly at such an upsetting time. The Trust is delighted to hear that you were pleased with the care your brother-in-law received.

Our staff often work against considerable pressure and it is therefore of great importance to acknowledge their good work. I will therefore ensure that those concerned receive a copy of your e-mail.
