After becoming ill on Saturday night I was advised to go to go to the nearest hospital which happened to be City Hospital, Birmingham. After reporting to reception we went to take a seat, and I have never seen a more dirty hospital. I understand it was late on a Saturday night but there was mud on the floor, dirt on the chairs, wrappers everywhere. Not only that, but a few hours waiting a group of lads came in drunk from their night after being in a fight, being rowdy and no one telling them to settle down when people around them were obviously unwell. One then announced he felt sick so his friend got him a bowl from the desk. They then asked for another one as he filled the last one, they then left the bowl on the seat and left. This was about 2am. I was then called into a room at 4am, when I left later at about half 6 the bowl was still left on the seat, the receptionists and a nurse had seen him be sick but 4 1/2 hours later it had still not been cleaned up. Also, whilst being in the cubicle in a and e, I needed to use the toilets. There was sanitary towels, used urine pots/tests, small amount of blood on the floor... I was disgusted. The state of this hospital made me feel so uneasy about the hygiene and treatment I would be getting. Who knows if the needle used to take my blood was fresh! Next time I will pay to go further afield as the state of that hospital was filthy!!
"Most filthy hospital I have ever been to!"
