"Ward 5 day staff abrupt and very cold."

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

After a tenuous 7 hour wait in A&E with my partner yesterday (which yes, was incredibly busy and staff were under pressure) he was finally given a bed in ward 3, given steroids for his condition but no pain relief despite his obvious distress. He was then transferred at noon today into ward 5 where he wasn't given any information until he was directed to get an X-Ray, the nurses failed to give him a round of steroids blaming the other ward and he's now spending another night in the hope that the Specialist/Consultant might see him in the morning. I understand that the majority of NHS workers are undervalued and not appreciated but I've never experienced such rude women in hospitals, all nurses seemed to possess a god complex whilst ignoring patient requests including to find out blood results etc. in order to stand around the desk, having a cuppa and gossiping amongst themselves. I am still astounded and shocked, quite frankly I walked out in tears knowing I'm leaving him there another night with the prospect of icy treatment and bread for breaky (yes, bread). Our prison systems seem to be better equipped than our hospitals and patient care is certainly none existent in this instance.
