On Thursday 6 March whilst cycling home from the train station I managed to come off my bike and dislocate my elbow, so after dialing 999 I called for an ambulance and within a short time was taken to Broomfield Hospital. The ambulance staff were excellent, reassuring and tried to minimise the pain I was in. Upon arrival at A&E I was immediately taken through to a cubicle where a nurse quickly examined me whilst waiting for the doctor. As soon as they could confirm my condition I was administered painkillers, liquid paracetamol and morphine and once my pain was under control I was taken to the X-ray department. The porter was friendly and the X-ray staff tried to ensure that my discomfort was kept to the minimum whilst taking the X-rays. Once the diagnosis was confirmed I was administered further drugs in order that I was asleep whilst my elbow was put back in place. My return to the X-ray department was as good as my first trip. Once I was well enough I was discharged, having had an appointment with the Fracture Clinic arranged for the next day.
