"dental extraction"

About: Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

The treatment I received at Birmingham Dental Hospital was top class.

I arrived, very worried about having my wisdom teeth removed under local anaesthetic but once in the treatment area was quickly put at ease by the friendly and professional dentist and dental nurse. They thoroughly explained everything they were going to do and when things turned out more difficult than expected, a senior dental surgeon was immediately brought over to assist. I was left wondering why I'd been so worried!

The only negative of the whole experience was the horrible waiting room you sit in before your appointment. Red hot, no tv, no magazines, inadequate ventilation. And you can be waiting quite a while in there so take a book!

Don't want to detract from the great job the staff are doing though with old and dated facilities.

Thanks Birmingham Dental Hospital!

Thanks for taking the trouble to post these kind remarks, Fiona. Please accept apologies for the delay in responding on Patient Opinion.

Your feedback has been relayed to the dental hospital team who appreciate any such positive comments.

Patient experience is of paramount experience as we take very seriously our responsibility to minimise the stresses associated with accessing healthcare. So any constructive feedback - positive or negative - is useful to us.

I'm sorry you found the waiting room an unpleasant environment. The current dental hospital is nearly 50 years old and is showing its age. We're delighted that construction work on a new, state-of-the-art Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry is well under way at Pebble Mill, Edgbaston. The doors are due to open to patients in September, 2015.

Best wishes,

The Communications Team
