What I liked
Pre-op care very good.
What could be improved
The post-op care. I was in as a day case for exploratory surgery and whilst I cant fault the care in the recovery room immediately after my operation, the care back in the ward was non-existant.
I was wheeled back into the ward, hooked up to the blood pressure/pulse monitor and just left there in discomfort for 2 hours without anyone coming near. I asked for a drink of water several times and was told that they'd bring one but it was at least 2 hours before I was brought one, not very good as I hadnt drank since 7am that morning and it was about 5pm when I eventually had a drink. My consultant came to see me to let me know how the operation had gone and asked if I'd been up and about but I was still waiting to be seen by the nurse on the ward.
I appreciate that the ward might have been short staffed but I was under the impression that you get checked after an operation and not just left there.
