"I have attended the QE and Selly ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have attended the QE and Selly Oak over the last 8 years since being diagnosed with breast cancer. I have had some of the best treatment imaginable but also feel that i have been treated terribly at times.

the worst think is that no one listens if things are not going to plan. As long as everything fits in it is fine but as soon as you want to change an appointment, ask a question or try to take contorl of a situation you meet defensiveness and an arrogance that is inpenetrable which is why i have given up complaining, it is not good for my health.

for example i am given out patient appointments months in advance and sometimes i need to change them. this reduces me to tears every time, you phone the number on the letter and they don't deal with your appointment (same letter i have been getting for years but they can't change the phone number) They give you another number and no one answers, for days and days, they don't tell you who it is you are trying to ring and the phone is put thrught before you can ask. I could go on but it is rather pointless.

I just grin and bear it and thank goodness that the treatment is good even if the experience is usually awful.

What could be improved

Lots of things but no one listens long enough to change anything.
