"Breast Cancer Journey"

About: Airedale General Hospital

We arrived at the Richardson Clinic on 17th January 2014 for reassurance regarding what was an anomaly. From the moment of first contact with reception to leaving the hospital some 4.5hrs later we were attended to with the utmost attention to detail. Be it from reception, Nursing, Consultant, Ultrasound staff no matter their role we were assured and reassured. Given every possible information and guidance. Including options. To check information available beyond that of the hospital even. By now the anomaly had taken on a much greater sinister nature. However it was without doubt the skills but perhaps their compassion that afforded us the ability to leave with relative comfort, given the utterly shattering outcome we had. Today Friday 7th March 2014 we sit with a 'Shattering' news of equal impact to our first arrival. However .. It's diametrically opposed to the sinister nature of the first revelation. We were given every available attention and diagnostic tool one could ever hope for. Many procedures were undertaken throughout numerous departments. Two (2) necessitated surgery. One which was massive and complex in nature. The attention of the surgeon was matched by that of his immediate team and the ward team of all disciplines. How could this be improved upon ?! May I be so bold as to offer the following : fly us to the hospital in a helicopter providing us with our own helipad. Then our own private buggy, with chauffeur, to our own personal ward. Whilst there food from Harrods and so I think you now get the gist. Realistically we fail to see how things could be improved upon. Upon what was a nightmare scenario that was reduced to a calming, reassuring but above all 'Professional' and 'Human' journey on ones life path T h a n k Y o u
