I was admitted to the local eye hospital with a detached retina just before Christmas 2007. I was operated on on Christmas Eve and was discharged on Christmas Day.
Leading up to my admission no one knew what my problem was, when I attended the local A&E they were able to arrange for a doctor to examine me at 9pm at the Eye Hospital. They explained that it was important that I be examined immediately.
From that point everyone treated me with every consideration and dignity. The consultant explained the procedure as did every member of the nursing staff. I was worried but reassured at every stage. The op was a success and since the after care and the following procedures have been dealt with in such a way that I feel that I am the most important and only patient that is being treated. I could not have asked for a better service. If people are anxious or worried the consultants and healthcare team are there to help, all you have to do is say help and it will be there and given.
