"I would not hesitate to come back here if I needed treatment"

About: Lynfield Mount Hospital / Adult mental health service

(as the patient),

I was arrested by police and bought here to Lynfield Mount. I didn’t understand where I was going and what to expect.

Staff know me well now that I have been here for 9 weeks. Staff treat me well. Halal food is provided. I get to spend time with staff and do activities here like crafts and decorations.

I don’t agree I need medication but staff explained I do, and so I have taken medication. I have taken it but feel it has not made a difference.

Treatment and care here is very good, and I would not hesitate to come back here if I needed treatment.

Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. Whilst your arrival at our hospital was not a pleasant experience for you, I am really glad to hear that your stay with us is proving beneficial and to hear that our staff are looking after you. It is also great to hear that you can spend time doing activities to help you recover. I will ensure that your feedback about the food we provide is shared with our catering team.

Whilst you say the staff have discussed your medication with you, it is important to discuss this with your consultant as well. The whole team aim is to help you get better and it is important that the whole team, including you, are involved in those ongoing discussions and reviews.

We have recently developed an Inpatient handbook which staff should now provide patients with as they are admitted. It is intended that this will help patients know more about us and quickly understand what their stay is about. It includes a lot of information and this can be used a reference book to help you find out more about what to expect. Please ask your nursing team for a copy if you don’t have one already.

Thank you again for your kind feedback. May I wish you a speedy recovery
