"Excellent patient care"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

My mother attended an outpatient appointment at RSH on Friday 24th January which after a period in the SAU resulted in admission to ward 26S for a femoral-popliteal graft. Without exception the staff caring for my mother were knowledgeable, caring and courteous. The ward was clean, patients were well cared for and staffing ratios appeared to be very good and the Consultant visited the ward daily even at weekends. He and his team should be congratulated for the service they provide, thank you one and all.

Dear Carrie Firstly, please accept my most sincere thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Only by understanding what our patients - and their relatives and carers - feel about their experience in our hospitals can we make improvements that will make a positive difference for the people we are here to serve. It is wonderful to hear that you found the team caring for your mother from the outpatient appointment, through her assessment in the Surgical Assessment Unit and her admission to Ward 26S, to be knowledgeable, courteous and caring. I will make sure that your kind words of congratulation are shared with Emma Salvoni (lead nurse on SAU) and Denise Bennett (lead nurse on Ward 26S) and their teams. I do this by writing the feedback we receive via NHS Choices (positive or negative) onto comment cards which are taken to the ward or department either by me or a colleague on the Executive Team. Thanks again for sharing this Adrian Osborne Communications Director The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
