An 86 year old man is on several items of medication. His wife has to go to the surgery to collect new prescriptions as treatment changes. She is 76. They live 2 miles away from the surgery. To make an appointment to see doctor they have to phone or visit the surgery at 8am. The phone is usually engaged, and if wife goes to surgery, appointments have already gone. They suggest a change in the appointments system. Maybe prioritise the elderly? They are both very satisfied with the care from their GPs - when they get to see them.
