I attended the minor injuries unit, following a car accident whilst pregnant. Being my first pregnancy, I was very anxious to have the baby checked as any expectant mother would. After having my details taken, I had to wait over an hour which was an incredibly anxious time. I was very tearful but within this time, wasn't offered any simple checks. I sat for over an hour, trying to feel my baby move and becoming very worried. I was still suffering shock from the accident itself. When I was finally seen, I was told that minor injuries couldn't do anything for me and that I needed to go to a maternity unit. There were midwives at the memorial who could easily have looked for the babies heartbeat to put my mind at rest. Instead I had to leave and travel to another hospital. Even if the best place to visit was a maternity unit, I could have been told this as soon as I arrived to prevent the delay and all of the worry. Luckily the baby is fine but it was a horrible experience.
"Bad experience"
