"Confirming an appointment"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

My father has been asked to confirm his cataract appointment to the ENT department at Scunthorpe hospital However every time he rings he is put in a long queue and is kept waiting until he just gives up. Could you not provide an e-mail service to confirm/cancel/rearrange an appointment. There must be a more efficicent way to deal with the above type of calls.
