"Excellent service in ED"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

I just wanted to email you to say what an excellent service that I received in A&E on the 25th Jan. I was suffering with shortness of breath throughout the Saturday morning. This gradually got worse so my partner took me up to A&E department. We were greeted by the very helpful reception staff who booked me in and advised us roughly of our wait. We were then seen by a wonderful nurse! She was so caring and really took time to understand what was happening to me. We then sat back in the waiting area where the doctor then called for us. He was very thorough in ordering test, scans, heart monitor and blood tests. We then were waiting in our cubicle when two nurses came into the cubicle. I have a needle phobia so when I realised that they were there to take blood I started to worry. Bearing in mind, my breathing was still bad so I was very anxious. One of the nurses came into the room and instantly we were put at ease! What a wonderful nurse! She made jokes were appropriate while keeping her professionalism. The other nurse was also very happy and cheerful which also put us at ease. The doctor was continually coming back to see me and kept us informed all the way. I left the department feeling confident that I has had 1st class service. People are very quick to complain but I could not fault the professionalism shown by every member of staff. Many Thanks to you all for you help!
