"Excellent treatment in Clinical Decision Unit"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency East Surrey Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I’d just had a hip resurfacing somewhere else which had become infected and when another four days in hospital for IV antibiotics had passed and I was back at home on sticks, I managed to fall down the stairs. Lots of pain and can’t walk. Ambulance (excellent) to ESH A&E. All very professional, X-ray and transferred to the CDU.

Next morning the A&E consultant did his rounds. He was excellent. Approachable, listening, responsive, reassuring; for the first time in several weeks I felt that someone was in charge, knew what was going on and could be relied upon. I cannot praise him enough.

Dear Copthorne Patient

Many thanks for taking the time to pass on your comments about East Surrey Hospital and in particular our A&E consultant. I will pass your comments to Dr Julian Webb who is the clinical lead for A&E who I'n sure will be delighted to read such a positive story.

Kind regards

Ian
