"Disabled bay"

About: Ormskirk & District General Hospital

My son had sustained a head injury and after driving around the car park for 5 minutes looking for a free space in desperation I parked in a disabled bay(all of which we're free). After excellent service in the A and E department I returned to my car to find a parking fine. I wrote to the company who provide the parking services explaining my situation but have received a reply to say I still need to pay the fine. It is my belief Ormskirk hospital do not provide adequate parking facilities for A and E users and therefore the fine should be quashed. My son with the head injury happens to be eligible for a blue badge as he has Downs Syndrome but I do not have one as I strongly believe disabled spaces should be used by people with walking difficulties. Regardless of my sons disability I would have parked in the disabled bay as the alternative was to wait with a ten year old with blood pouring from his head for a space to become available...I think not ! In future I will ring an already stretched ambulance service . Ormskirk Hospital need to address this situation immediately.
