"Outstanding Service"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

I recently found myself in the A&E department (sat 22 feb) of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital having fallen ice skating and breaking my collar bone. The staff were courteous knowledgable and friendly. The x-rays were taken promptly and explained to be with a follow up meeting planned for the monday with a surgeon. I saw the Surgeon at the first opportunity Monday 10.25hrs. The appointment was slightly delayed but by 11.30hrs the surgeon had decided to operate. By 3pm I was operated on and I was on my way home 12.00hrs the following day. All the staff were very clear on what they were doing and why. My wife was assisted throughout the process too.

Dear Mr Tate Thank you so much for sharing your feedback about your experience in the A&E department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, in the x-ray department and with the orthopaedic team. It is great to hear that you found the staff to be courteous and knowledgeable, with your operation taking place on the day of your follow-up appointment and you were able to go home the following day. It is also very reassuring to hear that all the staff were very clear ... and great to know that your wife helped throughout too :-) I will make sure that your feedback is shared with the team in A&E, xray and in orthopaedics. Personally I have always been a little nervous about the whole idea of ice skating and I think you might now have put me off for good ;-) All the best for your recovery following your operation.
