"I had a horrific experience"

About: Trowbridge Community Hospital

I was told at my breast feeding class if I was having any problems to contact them, my daughter at 3 days old would not wake properly for her feed and I was worried that she might have low blood sugars as my two children before had struggled with this I rang the hospital and explained the situation the midwife told me to come in and see her so she could help, by the time I arrived at the hospital I could tell my daughter was very unwell my husband I u spent 20 mins knocking on doors to try and get someone's attention finally someone answered the door and I made it very clear I was very conserved about my daughter the midwife told me she was dealing with an emergency and would be with me soon. She took us to a side room and I got my daughter out of her car seat and noticed her breathing had changed and her lips were turning blue, we tired to find help but there was no one. Still 30 mins later my daughter had got worse I was trying to get some milk into her and my husband was desperately trying to find someone! I ended up ringing bath maternity unit it tears (my daughter by this point was really struggling to breath) Finally due to bath calling Trowbridge a midwife came, she was very panicked when she took my daughter and shouted for help, at last I thought something is going to be done, but no the midwife told me there was nothing she could do about my daughters low blood sugars and stripped her off to check her heart and give her oxygen, it only got worse from there and by the time we arrived by ambulance to bath my daughter had hypothermia and was needing to be resuscitated a terrifying experience which needed not happen if the midwife had listened to us when we arrived we were an emergency! And had some basic knowledge on how to deal with a very common and not complicated issue, it would of also help if they had kept her wrapped up and under the heat lamps! Very traumatised by the whole experience and we haven't even. Received an apology
