I had a cataract diagnosed in December and went in for an operation in mid February. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone. The ward staff, in particular, combined a no nonsense approach with efficiency, humanity and a personal touch it would be hard to beat. There was a mixture of understanding and humour [especially from the anaesthetist and the nurse assigned to fill in pages and pages of paperwork beyond imagination] which proved again what a jewel in the crown the National Health can be - and still is. It was disheartening to realise what enormous pressures and limited pay some of the staff were on. They have endured public criticism to such a degree in the last three or four years to the point that it amazes me they still deliver such a fantastic thing. I am a great believer in the NHS and it is inspiring to see that some of the values I treasure can and are still present in the hostile political climate of criticising everything to do with public service occupations over recent times. Thank you for a seamless and caring experience.
