"Why is it so difficult to get an appointment?"

About: Kent and Medway

(as the patient),

I work four days a week and it is difficult for me to get time of. I have tried in vain to get an appointment on the day that I'm off in the week but there are never any spaces.

I have never known it to be this difficult to get an appointment. I'm just told to ring first thing and try.

My only other option is to book online and to get an appointment on a day that I'm off means waiting over three weeks. Why is it so difficult to get an appointment?

Can we ask where you are trying to make an appointment for?

Thank you for confirming. I have passed your message on to the Practice Manager at The Grange, and have attached her reply below.

We are sorry if you are experiencing difficulties getting an appointment with your GP. All of our GP’s offer telephone consultations and once all their appointments are full on the day, the reception staff have been instructed to offer this and have categorically been told not to tell patients to ring back the next day as this is a source of frustration. I am happy for you to contact me via my email tccg.thegrangeprescriptions@nhs.net with further information so I can look into this specific issue and also see whether there are any other circumstances around availability of your GP as we have had doctors on leave throughout the whole of February.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to comment as without patients reporting issues such as this, I am unaware and therefore can not try to address them.
