"Disappointed, not with TRAQS, with the whole system"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

June 2013, I was diagnosed with cataracts and had two procedures at Rowley Hall in September and November. Left eye now requires laser trimming which I felt should have been done at Rowley Hall as they are paid by the NHS for two operations.

However, it was necessary for me to commence proceudres all over again. Having wait 8 weeks I finally go to Manor Hospital, expect to have laser treatment but to my surprise and bitter disappointment this was merely an assessment and now it’sback in the queue for yet another appointment.

Seems the whole problem is lack of communications beteen agencies – no wonder waiting times for eye procedures is beyong belief in the Midlands.

As a 78-year-old with myasthenia grivas I am surprised no one fast tracked my problem. It’s bad enough being seriously ill and now with only one eye working life is pretty miserable. A procedure that takes just 10 minutes could open up a whole new world for me – but I expect it will be yet another 8 weeks (if I’m lucky) or more to wait.

So very disappointed. Not with TRAQS, but with the whole system for eye treatment.
