"Such a wonderful place to go to"

About: John Eastwood Hospice, day care/in care

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This is what I think about my health care experience at my local hospice (John Eastwood). Well for a start, I knew of the hospice being there for some time now, and over the years you get talking to different people sometimes about it, and one gets the idea that it is there for people who may not have long to live, and it's just like a normal hospital (I. e corridors, treatment rooms, etc. ). How wrong I have been, as I am now a patient myself once every week. I have found it such a wonderful place to go with the care that is given.

On my first day I cried because of the loving feeling that I was given from everyone. They lifted my spirits up and helped me to feel better about myself. Someone to talk to and listen, also holding hands to guide me along somehow.

I felt that God was watching over me. Nothing is too much trouble for all involved. When going there I know that at the end of the day I can go home knowing that today I have had so very kind people to help me along with my worries about not being all that well. If anyone out there has any doubts about the hospice, please go along – you wont regret it - I don’t, you get the uplift and feeling someone is there waiting to hold you and now I am shedding a few more tears. God bless all of you.

Thanks you for your comments. It is very moving to hear how the hospice service is supporting you and Im sure it will be comforting to others to know what we can offer and make them less anxious about coming. I will share with the staff who work so hard on a day to day basis to make it a good experience for people who visit either as patients or carers.

Mnay thnaks once again
