"Pointless overnight stay at Northern General"

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

I was told to attend Chesterman wing at the Northern General hospital between 15:00 and 18:00. I arrived at 16:30 and was booked in not until 22:00. I was then woken at 02:30 to be examined by a doctor.

I showered at 06:00, had breakfast at 07:00, but was given no information as to when I would be attended to. A nurse told me that day patients were being attended to first, so I told her that if I wasn't seen before 10:00, then I would be going home then.

They came for me at 10:00 and I was taken up to the waiting area. I was in theatre at 11:00, in recovery at 11:50, and was back on the ward by 12:15.

No-one came to me until 15:15, when the doctor came. I went to the toilet on my own twice, once being to wash blood off and to change pants. I finally left at 17:00.

Why did i have to attend the day before only to have to wait to be seen after day patients the next day?
