"Admission to A and E Monday 17th Feb.2014"

I was admitted as I thought I was having a heart attack and was immediately reassured that this was not the case. The pain I had when breathing in was due to a fall I had had on Friday 14th February. Investigations were very thorough and at the end I was told very clearly the cause of the pain and what would have happened if I had ignored it and what I needed to do to recover. This was all explained very clearly to me and at no time was I made to feel that I had wasted anybody's time but had been absolutely right to call for the ambulance. When I arrived I was shocked at the length of the queue and that the ambulance men had to wait with me for an hour before I was taken into A & E. They did not complain at all, but I thought that was such a waste of resources as whilst they were waiting with me their ambulance could not be used. A very inefficient use of time and skilled men. Although there was such a great number of patients, at the staff, including tea ladies etc. were very thorough, kind, informative and courteous throughout my time there. Many thanks to all. Our staff work hard to try to ensure that a patient’s experience whilst at the hospital is as pleasant and comfortable as possible, and they are always considerably heartened and motivated on learning how much their efforts have been appreciated.
