"Poorly Foot - Great Hospital"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

I would like to thank the A&E staff, nurses and plastic surgeons for their kind help and care of me and my foot. Long, long story short - I slice my foot pretty much in two whilst in Thailand on some metal. In Thailand they took care of me so well, repair my artery, tendon and foot with 20 plus stitches and cleaned and inspected it everyday. When I arrive back in the UK a walk in centre (not St Georges) took the stitches out even though I had just come off a plane and told the Nurse I felt they weren't ready to come out, the pain was unbearable. So much so that the Nurse gave me gas and air to deal with it. Anyway, that night the cut reopen but I didnt realise (despite the pain) until 3 days later when I went the hospital feeling unwell and in more pain. The Nurse absolutely amazing, look at the cut, cleaned it. Told me what she was doing and kept me inform. I was instructed to a shed load of Antibiotics and return in 3 days, that day I was omitted into hospital and had different surgeons coming to look at my foot and what was best to do. Surgery was on the cards... They decided on putting me on an antibiotic drip through the night to see how the foot reacted, thankfully it reacted well and I was discharged later that day - no surgery! Phew. The ward was really clean and food was really nice, the Nurse made sure I was comfortable and were concerned about me when I wasn't sleeping in the night (the snorer next to me wasn't helping). I felt really cared for by people who barely new me, a sign they enjoyed and loved their jobs. I was then sent to to my Dr's every day to have the cut cleaned and dressing changed. The cut was disgusting and so deep but it eventually cleared up and I saw the plastic surgeons a couple of times to ensure all was well. If I knew the Nurse's name, I would send her a card and flowers if I could. She was simply amazing and actually got me over my fear of needles. Which my mothers thanks her for! Thank you St Georges, you do a wonderful job and you should be proud. (Sorry the story turned out longer than I planned!)
