"My Stay"

About: Southmead Hospital

Overall my experience at Southmead ( J ward) was most satisfactory. Getting discharged on a Saturday is a nightmare. It seems that there is only one pharmacist on duty for both Southmead and Frenchay and she was at Frenchay ! The nurse performed some sort of magic and got my medication to take home. Overall many thanks to all concerned........

Dear Anonymous – thank you for your kind comments about the care and treatment you received on J Ward. I was sorry to learn that you had difficulties with your discharge. In order to reduce waiting at all times Wards aim to submit prescriptions 24 hours in advance for planned discharges, but staffing levels are also maintained to be able to deal with unplanned short notice discharges on both the Southmead and Frenchay sites. I regret that despite this planning you clearly had a long wait before your medication could be provided, but I am please the nurse was able to ask for a quick delivery to the ward.
