I spent 8months in the Newberry. When you go in of your own free will they give you the impression that you are going to be allowed out to spend time with friends when in actual fact they may just say that to get you in there. You get to see your physiatrist once a week, they also have a group on for dbt twice a week. At some points they have another group on once a week. They talk about having lots of activities on when in actual fact there isn't many although there is more than an adult inpatient as I have been in those on a number of occasions now. You get a key nurse who is meant to see you once a week, mine however didn't bother very often. There is always staff around, and most are friendly. You get a doctor and a review of your care every 6weeks. If you need the help then I would recommend this place, it can help. Sometimes it can be very boring and sometimes other patients can be triggering so you have to be carful. My physiologist/ physiatrist was lovely and I miss her a lot now even though I have been discharged quite a while.
