"999 call for ambulance"

About: South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

Husband, awaiting heart surgery in Southampton, taken ill, indefinable, but seriously cold and short of breath; feeling very ill.

Paramedic, Alan Giles, arrived with great rapidity and recognised my husband was running a high temperature. He recommended paracetamol (which we had in the house) to lower his temperature, read his medical file which we maintain pending his operation, discussed my husband's medical condition in general and carried out an exhaustive range of tests.

After further discussion when his temperature had fallen my husband was feeling much better and we agreed he did not require hospitalization.
