I was asked if to have the rest of my chemotherapy treatment here as Western Park had no beds when i was due to stay in. I didnt mind as my experience of Western Park was a nightmare last time i was in. I stayed in for my 3 day course and apart from the incorrect food turning up or them running out of what id ordered my stay was as good as it could have been. The problems started on my day treatment the week after. I was put in a bay with a man who was causing absolute havoc he kept throwing things on the floor trying to shout all the time then threw himself on the floor. Clearly had this man been unable to help it i wouldnt have minded but someone who is drunk to be put in a bed next to him to have my chemo was appalling. After he threw his water jug across the room i asked the charge nurse to be moved he was very apologetic and said i could go and sit back in the day room which i did. I waited and waited for my chemo to come over from western park 5 hours in total and everytime i asked all i got was its on his way then another exuse of the driver had got lost. What a load of rubbish its only next door. The sister on there was rude and seemed to think i was in the wrong for complaining. I know the nhs has to treat everyone but really putting that man on a cancer ward was very unfair i was told by another patient he used to go to the pub across the road and come back drunk and shouting late at night. How can the hospital condone that type of behaviour and still let him stay is beyond me. apart from a sister on the ward i found all the staff to be really sympathetic and caring.
