"My nan apparently isn't your problem."
About: Russells Hall Hospital Russells Hall Hospital Dudley DY1 2HQ
My nan is 87 and has dementure. A recent fall saw her admitted to B6 with a cerebral haemorrhage - something we are led to believe is beyond the medical expertise of your hospital (and you can't appear to get her any decent consultation from elsewhere). Nursing care has been patchy, doctors have been elusive and unhelpful in terms of explaining her condition, the outlook and the care she needs. As her condition deteriorated in hospital, (excessive sleeping, increased confusion, losing ability to feed herself etc) you tried to convince us she was 'medically fit' and seemed eager to get her out of your doors ASAP. You gave no option of rehab, step down care or advice of any kind. Apparently she is not your problem or a candidate for your help because there is 'no end goal' with her condition. Yes, she's 87 but she's entitled to care that makes her life as comfortable as possible. She was more or less pushed out of your ward today with no ongoing care or support offered. Less than 12 hours later she has already fallen at home because she has not been given the physical rehab she needs to get her to this stage again. I don't quite know why I'm telling you this though as you clearly don't care. She's not your problem after all.
