"Birth of Granddaughter"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

After 36 gruelling hours of labour, my daughter needed an assisted birth with her baby and the team that looked after her were just fantastic. We endured 2 shift changes with the midwives and they were so patient, supportive and understanding. My daughter had every procedure explained thoroughly and their words of encouragement gave her the strength she needed until her litle girl was born. A huge thanks to the staff in the Carmen suite, the Delivery suite and the poor anesthetist who caught a mistaken left hook and still remained smiling. Thank you all so very much for keeping my daughter and my granddaughter safe and well. I would also like to thank the staff in antinatal and the pre-assessment unit for their care during my daughters pregnancy and being so kind and caring. So many people judged her when she fell pregnant at 16 years old but the NHS staff at St. George's were nothing but supportive. Two weeks on, and my granddaughter is thriving and my daughter is such a natural mother. Thank you all again so very much for everything. Lorna

Time is something mothers and grandmothers do not have when a new baby is born into a family, so we thank you for taking the time to express your kind words of appreciation. Your comments about the gruelling 36 hours and the care your daughter received will be passed on to the matron and hopefully, we will be able to track down the anaesthetist who recieved the mistaken left hook. Thank you for letting us know how well your granddaughter is thriving.
