"The nurse, who I saw promptly ..."

About: Sunderland Eye Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

The nurse, who I saw promptly was very polite, friendly and reassuring.

What could be improved

Waiting time, doctors attitude.

Anything else?

I went last Monday as I was sure I had a piece of daily disposable contact lens stuck in my eye after it tore when I tried to remove it a couple of days before. After waiting the best part of 3 hours to be seen I was given a cursory examination by a doctor who told me I had an eye infection and when I tried to say it really felt like there was definitely something in it was told in a very condescending tone "I can assure you there is nothing in your eye, dearie", given a prescrition for anti-biotics and sent on my way. I didn't use the anti-biotics as I knew that wasn't the problem. The piece of contact lens (over half of one) eventually worked its way out of my eye yesterday and the relief from irritation was immediate. Pity I couldn't have had that relief a week ago.
