I am a health care worker at Southend hospital and I often find myself defending the NHS to patients, now having experienced the care of nurses, drs and even porters I can honestly say I was not lying. I had the most wonderful nurse looking after me when I was admitted to the surgical assessment unit for appendicitis, the porter who worked on the ward was wonderful and made me feel at ease when he helped transfer me to a more permanent bed within the hospital. I can not fault the nursing staff on the ward or the support team who work with them.
