"The end of life care my mother received "

About: Torbay Hospital / Neurology

(as a relative),

In January 2014 I received a message in Australia that my Mother had been admitted to Torbay hospital following a stroke. I contacted a friend in the UK who immediately went to the hospital to be with her. All family members live abroad, and so it was a great relief to be able to speak with the staff nurses and charge nurse of Cheetham Hill ward on a very regular basis to be updated on her condition.

Over the next three days they cared beautifully for my mother, ensuring her comfort and dignity at all times. The nurses on the ward communicated well and clearly on her condition and my friend was able to be with my mother at any time.

They contacted my friend in time for her to be with my mother at the end of her life and she died peacefully.

I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, attention and professionalism.
