"Orthodontics"

Whilst in the waiting room with my son for an orthodontic appointment I observed a community dental nurse come out of a consulting room and proceed to carry out a consultation with a small child in the full waiting room. She was talking to him and his parents about extractions and even asked him if he would open his mouth so she could see if he had any loose teeth. She asked him if he would like to keep the ones extracted. She also said she would leave him a bit longer for the cream to work. As this was clearly a patient consultation I feel it inappropriate that this took place in a busy waiting area and did not show respect for the privacy or dignity of the child. I would have spoken to the nurse at the time but felt that it would not be fair to her in front of other staff and patients.
