"Ultrasound Consultant far removed from her..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

Attended for an ultrasound appointment this morning having had three long weeks worrying over why I had been recalled. The man assistant in the room was very pleasant and helpful, however the same cannot be said for the consultant. Very aloof, very abrupt, unfriendly and her communication was shocking. Made to feel like I had completely wasted her time (I was recalled for this appointment). She initially stated that she probably couldn't tell me anymore than the previous sonographer. They recalled me! She stated that she didn't think I had anything to worry about but it was my decision if I wanted to pursue further... well, thanks for that.. really put my mind at rest. Said she didn't have the authority to refer me on and that I needed to go back to my GP. Another lengthy wait then for treatment! She didn't even have the decency to say goodbye when I left the room and sat with her back to me dictating... never, ever have I experienced anything like it. I work for the NHS and was absolutely horrified!
