"Breast cancer care pathway, surgery,chemotherapy,..."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

After my diagnosis of breast cancer in April 2013, I bgan the breast cancer care pathway...which at the time seemed frightening and daunting. However, I shouldnt have worried. My care by the surgical team has been wonderful, a very caring doctor, who explained evryrthing in detail, as did the specialist cancer care nurse, who kept in constant touch with me, and always so very kind. After surgery, I was transferred to another doctor, who with the brilliant care of the Galton Day Unit, the nurses, are great and I have always looked forward to my visits guided me through my chemoptherapy, contacting me and giving me advice when I needed it. The doctor has always been kind, informative and has always given me time to make decisions about my care-never rushing me or any patient. I am now almost halfway through my last part or my treatment-( Herceptin), I would just like to say that all corespondance was copied to me, all questions and concerns always answered and I was always involved fully in all aspects of decision making this combined making a very traumatic diagnosis much easier to deal with, and the support i have received has been wonderful-I am fully recovered now and back to work, but thankyou so very much to you all for getting me this far

On behalf of cancer services here at Medway NHS Foundation Trust , I would like to thank you for taking the time, in between your treatment, to put 'pen to paper' as it were, and tell us about your experiences of the care you have received under the breast cancer pathway. I will ensure your feedback is shared with all the teams of doctors, nurses and administrative staff who have been involved in your care. Please believe me when I say that to receive this highly positive feedback from our patients really brightens everyone’s day and makes a big difference. So thank you again for taking the time to do this. Alison Griffiths Head of Nursing/Matron- Cancer
