Dear Deborah Kenyon Thank you so much for contacting us via the NHS Choices website. Now, unfortunately we are not able to provide medical advice via this website, and NHS Choices does not provide us with your contact details in order to discuss this with you direct. This NHS Choices website provides information about Lumbar Puncture and the possible after effects at http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/lumbar-puncture/pages/introduction.aspx. This describes that there can be side effects following a Lumbar Puncture and states that "you should seek medical advice if you develop a temperature or sensitivity to bright lights, or if the lumbar puncture site becomes painful and swollen." You appear to be describing continued pain following the lumbar puncture and therefore it would be appropriate to seek advice either by ringing NHS 111 or by arranging to see your own GP on Friday to check your symptoms. Your GP will be able to advise on an appropriate course of action. I am also sorry to hear that you found some discomfort at the time of the procedure and would invite you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01743 261691 or pals@sath.nhs.uk if you would like to discuss any aspect of your care or treatment with someone from the Trust. Thanks again for contacting us, and please once again accept my apologies that we are not able to provide medical advice via this website. Adrian Osborne Communications Director
